On Facebook Live yesterday I shared a bunch of ideas using the Thoughtful Branches Bundle! Remember … you only have 4 more days to buy it if you haven’t already!!!!
I will share photos of the ideas I shared – and the actual video is at the end of the post. (Notice that I am leaving the cards very plain – since my focus here is to share different techniques.)
The Simple Hydrangea
Stamp the blossom on white. Cut out that and a solid color with the thinlit and attach them a little bit off center.
The Layered Hydrangea
Step it up by cutting out three blossoms, putting one down for the foundation. Cut the next one smaller and the third one even smaller. (I even cut one tiny blossom out of the leftover pieces and added that on top) Add those layers with dimensionals. Add some clear Wink of Stella.
Lilacs
Cut the blossom into three different pieces to make this flower. This idea comes from Georgia Giguere and you can see her pattern and blog host here.
The Pouffed-Out Hydrangea
Now, let’s get three dimensional! Cut three blossoms out with Vellum. Crumple of two of them and attach them one at a time to the base one. (Since this is obviously not a card I am going to mail, I also popped up one of the leaves!)
The Apple for Back to School
Using the same technique as above with the scrunched up blossom, but with only two layers this time.
The leaves are from the same thinlits – just cut out and scored down the middle so they could be folded up.
The Bird and the Nest
A little artsy card here – with the silhouette of the bird from the Blooms & Birds Thinlits Dies and the nest, which is part of the blossom.
A Heart for You
Hearts are never out of style. For this one, cut a heart out of the blossom using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits and layer on different sizes of white hearts. Each layer uses dimensionals, or “risers” as Tim calls them.
And now … let’s do some stamping!
The Smudged Tree
Just using the blender pen adds this nice softness to the tree leaves.
Autumn Tree
Using Delightful Dijon, Garden Green, and Rich Razzleberry Ink Pads, stamp the blossom at slightly different angles.
Stamping Technique of “Thumping”
This is one of my favorite techniques for adding a variety of colors to one image. Use Delightful Dijon as the base for the leaf, then “thump” with Garden Green and Rich Razzleberry markers. (Kids just love this technique!)
The video will show how to do this if that isn’t enough information!
Birds on the Wire
Watching the birds on the telephone wire in our backyard gave me the inspiration for these cards.
Love the “party time” stamp. Its from the Oh Happy Day Card Kit (p. 6 – 7 in the catalog).
This card would be perfect for a party invitation, or for a birthday card from a group of people!
Or … how about a single, lonely bird on the wire missing someone
Or … two happy birds – congrats on getting engaged, on an anniversary, or just a sweet thank you to a friend!
Whew! That was a lot of ideas with the Thoughtful Bundle!
Remember … only 4 more days to purchase it, and if you purchase it from my online store (or anything else $40 or more) you will get my 5 FREE Card Kits using this bundle! Read more about that here.
Now, for the video!
