Here is an invitation to join us in making a list of 40 people and sending them each a card during lent.
I know we usually think of giving something up for lent, but I also love this twist of thinking of giving to others.
Why 40? (Besides it being Lent, of course) 40 gets you out of the easy thinking about sending cards to the obvious people in your life.
A year ago we did this podcast and in it we shared several stories of how people have used this idea. We would love to have you take a listen – its only 7 minutes long – and then tell us who comes to your mind for sending 40 cards? I know that I had decided to focus on the caregivers, who are often forgotten.
A friend, Jane Brandt, went through the church directory and send cards to many of the older people who weren’t able to get out much anymore. She was surprised at how many of those people (whom she did not know well) called to thank her. It gave those older people a reason to call Jane – and actually to create a new or deeper friendship!
So – let us know if you are up for joining us in this 40 Cards for Lent – and share your stories with us!
What a great idea. Just sent an email saying I was making Easter cards for the Easter care team gifts. I’ll have to do 40 cards for another group of helpers. Thanks .
I miss your Monday and Thursday meets because i don’t know when they are . Please tell me again. I think I heard about them on a youtube video but can’t find the times.
Hi Karen, I would like to get you monthly samples if possible.
