If you enjoy card designs that are a little different—but still easy to make—this tuck-in envelope fold is one you’ll want to try. It has a clever way of closing that feels special without being complicated, and it works beautifully for any occasion. With just a few simple folds and your favorite paper, you can create a card that looks thoughtful, polished, and just a little unexpected.
This simple layout uses accent pieces as a “latch” to tuck-in the flap.
Here’s what it looks like when opened…
And you can change the orientation and make it a horizontal card too.
Here’s how easy to make this tuck-in envelope fold:
- Score an 8″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White piece in half and fold. Adhere a 3” x 5-1/4” DSP piece on the left side of the front.
- Score a 3-3/4” square DSP piece diagonally in half and fold. Attach half of it at the back of the Basic White card.
- Layer the Basic White card on a 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” cardstock base.
- Attach an accent piece on the left side of the card front using dimensionals to serve as the latch.

Karen, the free PDF for us to print, for the Dec. 18, 2025 “live” is not printing correctly. I’ve tried it twice, and it prints it quite tiny, and makes it really hard to read. I always print these, and put them in a notebook, and they always print “full page”. Not sure what’s going on with it. Maybe you could have the person who puts those on your site, check it out? Thanks! Many Christmas blessings, and wonderful health, in the new year! Spread Kindness…,(my motto these days, and things are “not right” in the country.
