Meet Anna Ruddick, a young women with Down Syndrome, who has her own card kit business!
Anna and her Work Supervisor came to me because Anna was looking for creative and challenging work. After spending some time with Anna, I came up with the idea of her creating Card Kits.
If you are a card maker, you know how many different steps go into making those cards.
One of the great things about this for Anna is that there is a lot required of her. She has to figure out each step of the process while using a variety of tools.
Her work includes cutting the paper, scoring and folding, using punches, and working with the Big Shot.
She lays out supplies for three cards at a time, stacks those pieces and then packages them. Each package includes a color copy of what the finished card will look like and a thank you note signed by Anna explaining that all you need to add is glue or tape to assemble the cards

*Anna donates all of the money she receives. Each month she and her mom decide where the proceeds will go that month – and she is open to suggestions if you would like to do a fundraiser!!! (Causes she has supported include Breast Cancer Research in honor of my journey with that, Children’s Heart Health because heart surgery as an infant saved her life, and Children’s Cancer because she helps out at their annual convention.)
