October is a special month for me. Four years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. With a grateful heart each October I do a special Breast Cancer Fundraiser – with card kits, of course.
You can read more about how the fundraiser works by clicking here. We would love to have you join us in honor of someone you know!
Tim and I made some cards using the Ribbon of Courage stamp set on our Facebook Live this week. (You can view that and enjoy some laughs with us at the end of this post.)
First, Tim made this card for me.
The words “LIVE every moment, LAUGH every day, LOVE with all your heart” describes how we choose to live life – even more so after going through my cancer episode. Things like that always make you appreciate the little things in life even more!
On this card, I cased the main idea – tucking the ribbon into the “hugs” from the Lovely Words Thinlits – from Mary Brown, a fabulous stamper.
I layered it on a background created with the large Watercolor Wash stamp and Powder Pink ink. In the video, you can see how I use these large stamps.
Different colors stand for different types of cancer. We used pink because of my breast cancer – but change it for whoever you are making a card for!
For the inside of the card, I used the ribbon stamp almost like a watermark – with words in black printed over it. I love these words: “sending love and hugs to you” – perfect for so many situations in life.
And the, of course, I wanted to create one card that shows the versatility of the stamp set – no ribbons here. Just lovely flowers in this Support Ribbon Dies set that to make beautiful floral cards.
We had a lively discussion on our Facebook Live about my “living flat” – a term that I had never heard of until a couple of months ago and yet it describes me!
I am so grateful for these past four years – and I hope you will share this post and join us in this fundraiser! Just click on the “Cards for a Cause: Breast Cancer” on the menu bar above – or click here to read about how to join our fundraiser!
