Grief, Gratitude & Glitter: A Conversation Continued
In this follow-up episode of Stamping on the Back Porch, we’re returning to a topic that deeply touched so many of you—grief and gratitude.
After sharing Tim’s story about losing his ability to read after a stroke, we were overwhelmed by the heartfelt responses. So today, we’re reading your stories out loud, reflecting on them, and simply holding space for what it means to walk through grief with grace, faith, and yes—even a little gratitude.
One listener shared a beautiful image: “Grief is like glitter. You never get it all. Even long after the event, you still find it tucked in the corners.” That visual stayed with us. Grief doesn’t leave us; it just shifts. It hides in the corners of ordinary days, showing up in unexpected moments—an old photo, a memory, a song.
You shared stories of sitting in silence with loved ones, of losing spouses, siblings, and even children. You told us how grief can be a holy experience—how presence, even without words, can be deeply healing. You also reminded us of the power of small things: making cards beside a loved one, laughing through tears, finding comfort in faith, memories, and quiet rituals.
We talked about how the seasons of life bring their own little griefs too—the ending of an era, like when our kids outgrow their childhood traditions. And yet, even in those bittersweet endings, there’s beauty. There’s gratitude.
This episode isn’t about fixing grief. It’s about honoring it. Sitting with it. And sharing it—because that’s where healing begins.
Thank you to everyone who sent in a story, a thought, or a moment. Your words reminded us that we’re never alone. And if you’re in a season of loss, we hope this conversation helps you find a small light—maybe even a little glitter—tucked in the corners.
