For a dramatic, but easy, effect … add pleating to your card!
This technique reminds me of folding the church bulletin into fans when I was young – did you do that?
Little did I know that I would be doing this later in life with all these pretty Designer Series Papers!
The card above was made with the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper and the card below uses the Presents & Pinecones DSP. Notice that on both of them, I cut out an object from the paper itself to make the accent for the card!
How to Make a Double Pleated Card
Start with a 10″ x 5″ piece of Designer Series Paper. With the 10″ side on the top of the Simply Scored, score at 1″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/2″, 3″, 4″, 4 1.2″, 5 1/2″, 6″, 7″, 7 1/2″, 8 1/2″, 9″
(It helps me to look at the card first – notice how the pleats are wide, narrow, wide, narrow. That helps you remember the 1″ and the 1/2″ order on the scoring as well.)
Make a small pencil mark at 4 1/2″ and 5″ along the top and bottom of the paper, and at 2″ and 3″ on both sides.
Cut from those marks to make your paper look like this.
Pleat accordian style.
Place a strip of Tear & Tape on the back with the pleats all tucked together. It will curl up like this – but thats OK.
Attach to the card. Finish off with a narrow band across the front with the words and the cut-out accent.
