This is the first in a series of how to make quilt cards!
Do you quilt? Do you own a handmade quilt?
Quilts are great for card inspiration – and, of course, card making and quilting are similar in that they both deal with patterns, designs, colors …. and lots of bits and pieces.
The biggest difference in my mind is that one is slow and the other speedy!!!
The very first quilt I ever made was in 1973 when I made a Log Cabin Quilt for my boyfriend Tim – now my husband of 44 years!
I made two cards using this Log Cabin Block.
For each, I kept the darker colors on one side and the lighter colors on the other.
For the first card, cut a bunch of 3/8″ strips of Designer Series Papers. Starting with a 3/4″ square for the middle, start adding strips along each side, turning the square as you go. You can watch the video above to see this in action.
The second card is done the same way, but with 1/2″ strips and a 1″ square in the middle.
As you can see, this could also be called a strip card! Choose your own patterned papers and watch your unique card come to life.
