I could not possibly decide what my favorite stamp set is in the new catalog … but … since I am going on the Stampin’ Up! Cruise next week … and vacations make me think of flamingos … I decided to go with the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set for today’s card!
Now, mind you, I’m not expecting to see flamingos in Spain, Italy, or France. Its just that stamping these flamingos put me in a “vacation state of mind”.
The new Flirty Flamingo In Color would be a perfect choice for most flamingos, but I decided to go for a dramatic look with black against a lovely sunset.
I started with a 4″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock and sponged (using the Stampin’ Sponges) with Peekaboo Peach at the top, Flirty Flamingo in the middle, and Dapper Denim on the bottom. Its a rather abstract take on the idea of a lake with the setting sun. The flamingo, stamped in Basic Black, is a bit off the paper – like he is in motion and planning to cross the page.
That sponged piece was then attached to a base of the Thick Whisper White Card Stock.
The last step was to draw the lines around the sponged piece, using a ruler and the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.
Whereas I love going anywhere where the flamingos live … I am beyond excited to go to Europe!!! I never thought I would take a trip like this in my lifetime. Even better, its all expenses paid for both me and my guest (my wonderful hubby, of course) … just one of the many ways Stampin’ Up! has enriched my life.
