Today is one of those Bootiful Occasions! We have been having so much rain lately that I
decided to make a card for that! (I used another Freshly Made Sketch for these!)
I love these rubber boots from the Bootiful Occasions stamp set. I stamped them each separately onto designer series paper and cut them out, then covered them with Crystal Effects so they look shiny and rubbery….just like a rubber boot should!
This first version is a fresh rain!
The papers are from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper.
This second version reflects an urban look with the street map and more dirty browns! T”grungy” look are from the Soho Subway Designer Series Papers. (That certainly fits, doesn’t it?)
On this card I added another layer under the Island Indigo.
The yellow dot accents are the new Candy Dots which can be used directly on the card like I did or put on brad bases to make brads of any color! You get 100 in 10 different colors (four different color choice packets) for only $6.95!
This is the Freshly Made Sketch (FMS 88) that I used for inspiration.
Did you notice that instead of just adding a scalloped edge to the side like on the sketch, I actually used the same piece of Island Indigo card stock and cut off the scalloped edge, leaving a space between the two pieces?
This is what makes using sketches as inspiration so much fun! Last week I asked my readers how they usually designed cards. I gave them three choices: exact copy, inspired by a card or sketch, or totally thought up from scratch. The second choice, using a card or sketch as an idea to draw from, was by far the most popular! I hope my blog encourages you to do that to jump start your creativity!
In addition to rainy days…….Halloween, Christmas, and cowboy days make great Bootiful Occasions for cards too!
Here’s my question for today: Which do you prefer? The first fresh spring rain card or the second urban rainy day card?

Love those boots! Especially the shiny ones! What fun cards! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
Thanks, Linda!
I LOVE those boots! What a great idea to cover them in CE to make them look like real shiny rubber boots. Fabulous card for sure! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
Thanks, Rita. They really do look real, don’t they? Love that crystal Effects.
