Where is the money going???
Next Life Foundation in Tanzania.
Next Life Foundation seeks to help Tanzanian youth trapped in a world of poverty by providing hope for their future through technical education. Currently, they offer classes in sewing and in carpentry. They had plans to expand …. but
things were put on hold because of two major things:
- Covid-19 which has hit hard. The school needed to be closed – although the sewing students kept active making masks.
*Laurence, the director and co-founder, came down with the virus himself and was very ill. Thankfully he has recovered. (We have gotten to know Laurence well during some time he spent here in Minnesota this past year and are happy to share the message of what he is doing)
This is a photo of Laurence surrounded by some the kids in the village.
2. Devastating flooding which has washed away many homes. Next Life Foundation has supplied many, many pounds of corn, beans and cooking oil to our students and their families that were affected by the floods and countless neighbors.
Next Life wants to rebuild three homes. They have enough money to build one of them and we’re recruiting our carpentry alumni to help with labor but we need help financially to get all three built and to fund our operating expenses when July rolls around and the school can open again.
These are the homes they want to rebuild.
“65 year old Mama Nikol is the sole caretaker of her three grandchildren. Her husband passed away a few weeks before the heavy rains. The floodwater carried her house completely away. They stay outside now but found a piece of a mattress to sleep on at night. The dangers of snakes, pneumonia and other diseases are a real threat.”
Another home is for a mama with two children who are physically challenged. (We have a son who has always been in a wheelchair and we have seen over the years how accessibility has greatly improved in our country – but not so in this area. This really speaks to our hearts.)
