You know its the end of summer when its Minnesota State Fair time. The State Fair is what of my favorite events of the year. I have always taken a day off of work to attend.
This year I was given two free tickets so I went twice. The first day I was by myself and did all of my favorite things – which is mostly listening to all the free music. I really enjoyed the Maveriks from the early 90's. They had broken up but are now back together.
I also enjoyed Sourdough Slim, a yodeling, accordian playing, lasso-roping, singing cowboy.
The Current from Minnesota Public Radio had one of the future big names in country music performing, the Cactus Blossoms. Our kids grew up with the brothers in this group and its fun to see their success with their talent.
The second day was a family day with eight other people including my grandson Hank.
You might be asking if Karen went to the fair? No, by her choice! She loves to eat at the fair so she considers it too expensive to go! (Plus the heat and crowds are not her thing, so she told me to use both tickets while she stayed home and stamped.)
