Our youngest son has entered a "foodie" world that we didn't even know existed. This is a picture of him working at Borough, a new restaurant in Minneapolis, MN. That's octopus on the plate.
He treated us to a sampling of appetizers at this restaurant last evening. He ordered for us and this is what we had:
Hearts of Palm with Orange, Avocado, Jicama, Pepita and Tortilla
Oysters with Lemon Ice, Pickled Shallots, and Smoke
Brussels – Roasted, Leaves, Walnuts, Cider, Apples, Robiola
Fries – Spiced Ketchup, Onion Salt, Fried Eggs (Their homemade ketchup was the best I have ever had!)
Tartare – Bison, King Trumpet, Pine Nuts, Horseradish, Creme Fraiche, Sea Salt
I took the plate of tartare over to a light to examine it – it really was raw, ground bison. I won't say on this blog what it looked like it. Karen wouldn't even try it. I ate it, but still can't decide if I liked it or not. I liked the sauce on it. (Our son is the saucier.)
It was a fun evening seeing into his world, a world we don't participate in very often!
The restaurant Borough is located in the warehouse district in downtown Minneapolis, an area that is undergoing renovation as more people are living downtown. Its beautifully done, keeping the feel of the original building. Its also very popular. Reservations were sold out when we were there.
