On December 9, I will be celebrating 44 years as a veteran.
Time has a way of playing games with you. Forty-four is almost two-thirds of my life. That’s a strange perspective that was brought home to me while eating my free 7 oz. steak at Applebee’s.
Watching the vets come in in droves made me proud. Most of the vets looked as if they were my age and guess what? They looked old! And I could only compare that to the really old guys from WWII. They were using walkers and canes and the arm of a loved one.
Age has a way of sneaking up on us. Ironically, this is the first Veteran’s Day after discovering my wife had breast cancer and subsequently had a bi-lateral double mastectomy. We’re getting older. We all are. But to appreciate this, to honor each other, to realize how much we are loved, is worth every day of aging and every medical condition that comes our way.
My blogging is a part of Karen’s Stampin’ Up! business and I feel your love, prayers, and support for her and for me. For this I am deeply grateful.
From an aging Vietnam Vet to Karen’s army of stampers…….I love you.
Oh what a blessing you are to your dear wife!
I will agree with you Rosanne! (comment by Karen)
