I was a quilter long before I was a stamper. Part of the appeal to me is that both work with color and design. I was playing around with using some traditional quilting patterns on my cards. I made this Sailboat card just with the Pocketful of Posies designer series paper and the 1 1/4" square punch. I love the effect of the "rain drops" which is right in the paper. Of course, fabric would also work well on a card like this too.
Here is a different quilt block look based on the Basket design. This one uses the Paisley Petals designer series paper along with the 1 1/2" punch and the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch. In the quilting world, the flowers would be appliqued. Imagine the different combinations of flowers we could put in the basket.
Any of the traditional quilting patterns using squares and triangle make great cards. Here are a couple more samples:
A traditional Pinwheel pattern using Just Add Cake designer series paper.
Just Add Cake is used in the pattern below too. What different looks you can get from the same set of paper!
Are you a quilter? You will enjoy playing with these ideas. Do you have a quilter friend? Wouldn't it be fun to send her a quilting card, or even, as a gift, a set of four different quilt cards tied up with ribbon? What a personal, but easy gift to give!
Remember to opt in on the right to receive more ideas more me!
