Have you thought about trying a bit of digital scrapbooking, but won’t know where to start? Are you thinking it would be too difficult? Let me show you a fun, quick and easy project for a first scrapbook……… introducing my project using the Life Celebrated Swatchbook
I made these swatchbooks for Christmas for our two grandsons, one of them being one year old and the other nine months.
These swatchbooks are covered in plastic and easy to hold. I’m hoping they spur plenty of conversations about being at our house!
Do you remember details from the house you grew up in? When I was young, picture taking was a rare occurence because of the expense of it so most pictures were of people. Today we can easily take pictures and have fun creating with them!
How about scrapping favorite places you have been (or hope to visit), favorite items and the story behind them…..keep adding your ideas!
Before you decide this is too difficult, let me tell you more! For this project, I used the Life Celebrated Swatchbook.
Click on that product and it will take you to the product. It will be a little hard to see, but I think you can see it well enough to recognize those templates in my projects.
I just changed the background papers and added the words. I completed the project in one evening and made three copies, one for each of my grandsons, as I mentioned, and then, of course, one for me!
Now, I would love to help you! I am planning some upcoming free classes online for you when you purchase these products through my online store. (And I will help you privately with your first project too!) More details are coming soon…….
But for today, I want to remind you that My Digital Studio costs only $19.95 (and comes with
And just through June 15, many of the digital downloads are 25% off!!!! Click here to see those.
So my suggestion to you is to get My Digital Studio now and a Swatchbook template.
Then email me and karen@karentitus.com and we will go from there.
I have a question for you, whether you scrap or not: If you were to make a swatchbook (which is really a small scrapbook) what would you make it about?
1. a trip
2. kids or grandkids
3. family reunion
4. favorite places
5……….you fill it in. I’m looking for more ideas about what to scrap! Thanks for participating!

Since Dana & I travel I would most like to do a swatchbook on traveling or a vacation. I am going to try this for my first MDS project.
I made on of these for my son’s graduation (12 years of school pictures)! It turned out really great! Everyone loved it! If I was to make another one it would be about a trip or a special event!
Definitely scrap a trip. It is super fun reviewing all the places you have been and the fun events.
Probably pictures of family – esp. times when everyone is together since it is rare with kids living overseas.
My kids for sure. And they love making little books about themselves too. They look fun!
#2. – My swatchbook would be about the grandkids because they live so far away!
Great idea Karen! Before we moved my parents from their country home to a new place in the city, I took loads of pictures of my old bedroom, all of the rooms in the house, spots all over the yard and the outdoor buildings and their interiors. I made a book for my parents with the pictures and commentary. I got a swatchbook/mini version of the book for myself. What a treasure for our whole family!
I would make a swatchbook using pictures of my grandkids and their artwork.
I am still admiring MDS but haven’t purchased it. A friend recently did and is making a memory book for her brother of their childhood.
I have not purchased MDS yet. I would like to do a swatchbook on the children I have seen grow up over the last 5years. I am a pool manager in our community and it just amazes me how fast they grow up. Thank you for sharing. Sandi
Grandkids would come to mind quickly. Also fun would be to do recipes with pictures of the people you got the recipe from. We did this at a monthly card club gathering where people brought food for the day…favorite recipes obviously. So we scrapped the recipes. I added the pictures of the “chefs” later. It is a nice little recipe book and reminder of the fun get togethers.
Love the recipe idea! I should do one with Tim’s recipes!
Thats a great idea!
I love the idea of celebrating our childhood memories – from the past!
I really like the artwork idea along with the grand kids!I love children’s art.
I think trips would be fun to look back over and an easy thing to start with too!
I’m impressed that you made for your son’s graduation! That is a real accomplishment. I have 5 kids, all young adults now, and not one of them has any completed scrapbook – or swatchbook – from me.
So what vacation are you going to make your swatchbook about?
I would record my grand children playing with their toys so that they have it to remember childhood.
A favorite place! Hubby and I go to Red Wing every fall!
Lori,
You could show pictures over the years of being there in the fall and show changes in both you and Red Wing. What a great tradition scrapbook!
Another great idea, Cynthia! Toys make up such an important part of kids activities. I would love to have pictures of the few toys we played with we were young!
Hi Jenn, I love that idea for a book!
