Tim and I have chosen to give only a small, but significant Christmas gift to each person in our family each year. Often, that is a book individually picked for each person. This year, in celebration of our family ties around the love of books, we are giving each adult in our family (our children and their spouses/significant others and our mothers) the same gift: a special bookmark.
To wrap the gifts, I made these boxes using the new Everyday Enchantment designer series paper that is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration choices with a $50 order. On Monday, I will post a video about making these boxes that will show you how to make any size box to fit a piece of jewelry or other small item. For now, these pictures will do.
This picture doesn't show the bookmark very well, but they are a variety of styles and are handcrafted by Eden Ministry, an organization working to help women in China escape sexual abuse and prostitution. Each bookmark only costs between $6 and $10. You can check out their website to learn more about the organization by clicking here or check out their shop with these bookmarks and lots of jewelry by clicking here.
Aren't these papers beautiful? They coordinate with the in colors this year. You will notice that I used lots of different ribbons that Stampin' Up! offers to tie them up with!
The gift tags on each box (not added when this picture was taken) all say something like: To Esther who grew up in a home where the parents believed "a room without books is like a house without windows" or To Brian who married a girl who grew up in a home where the parents believed "a room without books is like a house without window" or To Mom who raised a girl who grew up to be a parent…..
I'm sure you get the picture by now.
I hope you are enjoying your preparations for Christmas.
Karen
