This is the first of several cards I have made using Stampin' Up! sponging with Serene Silhouettes. Serene Silhouettes is my favorite new stamp set ….this week.
Isn't this a soft, pretty background? Of course, with deeper colors it would also be beautiful, just with a different mood! Imagine a bright sunset behind the flowers.
This is a quick and easy card to make. It uses only one stamp from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set (p. 75 #127322w #24.95, #127324c #17.95). Any of the three silhouette stamps in this set would work with this technique. This video will walk through each step:
Stamp the flowers first and allow that to dry completely. The sponging is done all at one time.
The smaller piece of whisper white card stock (3 in by 2 1/4 in) is lightly attached to the larger piece of whisper white card stock before sponging.
The Stampin' Up! ink pads I used were: Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade, Baja Breeze, Bashful Blue, and Pool Party.
When you are finished sponging, just lift the smaller piece off the larger piece and look what you have! A pretty frame! Now, layer the smaller piece onto a 3 1/3 in by 2 1/2 in piece of Basic Black card stock and then layer that onto the larger sponged piece. One more layer onto the Basic Black background piece and you have a beautiful finished card! How easy was that?
Sponging is one of those basic techniques that can be used many different ways. I most often use it around the edges of card stock to give another intensity of color to the project. When you sponge edges in any brown tones, it gives a nice aged look. Sometimes its fun to use the sponge in a bigger way such like I did on this project today.
