My mom with Hank
On December 1st my mother turns 93, but not without some recent challenges. In September she broke her hip while making dinner in her small apartment in Jackson Minnesota, the home town for both Karen and me. In October, she moved into a rehab facility in St. Paul, and in November, she moved again, this time to my brother’s house in Cottage Grove.
The great thing about my soon-to-be 93 year old mother is her attitude and spirit. The staff at the Mayo Hospital in Mankato referred to her as that “feisty old lady”, which is very true. She is known in Jackson as the woman walking through town at a great clip hanging on to her walker and running you over if you don’t get out of her way. (We are talking about 2 – 3 miles of walking each day!)
A broken hip slowed her down but didn’t stop her. Because of her keen mind and physical stamina, the doctors expect her to be out running people over again.
So here's to my mom: Happy 93rd!
