Stampin' Up!'s Swallowtail stamp is my current favorite for trying out all kinds of techniques! You can tell because this is my 5th video tutorial! Here are three variations:
The Swallowtail butterfly above looks water colored. I used Bashful Blue and inked the stamp very, very lightly before I did the "thumping" so parts of the stamp doesn't even come through. The Stampin' Up! Writers I used were Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Cajun Craze, and Cherry Cobbler.
I inked the Swallowtail above in Pumpkin Pie and, since its a bright color, every detail of the stamp comes through. For the Writers, I used Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, and Soft Suede.
On this card I used Daffodil Delight for the base and then added Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, and Cajun Craze. Since blue and yellow combined create green, there is a lot of green on this butterfly.
You can see from these three cards that you can get a wide variety of looks depending on which colors you decide to use.
The Stamping Technique Called Thumping
Isn't that an easy technique? I love using ideas like this because each card will have a different look to it. Have fun experimenting.
