There’s something so charming and nostalgic about a woven heart design. This project is inspired by the Scandinavian woven fabric hearts I used to make years ago—but this time, we’re swapping fabric for paper! The same cozy, handmade feel is still there, but with a fun cardmaking twist that lets Designer Series Paper take center stage.
I used the Everyday Arches Dies to make the hearts for these cards.
This is the Scandinavian fabric woven heart that I got inspiration from.
This is also a great way to play with patterned paper and color combinations. Whether you lean festive, floral, rustic, or plain pastels, changing the paper completely changes the personality of the card.
This card uses the Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper.
You can make a super basic look with just this:
- Score a regular 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card base in half and fold.
- Adhere two 2″ x 5-1/4″ DSP strips on the card front.
- Using Everyday Arches Dies, die cut two arches of the same size from scrap pieces of DSP. Adhere together diagonally to form the heart shape. Adhere on the card front using dimensionals.
To make the woven heart: (watch the video below to see the technique)
Cut the bottom part of the die cuts into strips and weave.
The first card below was cut into two strips while the second card was cut into four strips.
Here’s another card featuring a different paper.
Just play with different number of strips to give you different look.
