How can we enjoy winter, even when it feels so long and cold, especially here in Minnesota?
We shared how the Norwegian way of looking at winter—embracing the season instead of fighting it—can make all the difference. They even have a saying: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” That got us talking about how we can all make winter more enjoyable by being prepared and finding little ways to connect with nature.
Josiah shared some stories about winter camping in the Boundary Waters, including a trip where things didn’t go as planned. Even though frostbite and a rescue weren’t part of the plan, those experiences helped him grow and appreciate the challenge of winter. Hank, on the other hand, made it clear he’s happier staying cozy inside, and we couldn’t help but laugh at the contrast. Whether you’re into winter adventures or prefer snuggling up indoors, it’s all about finding what makes the season work for you.
We also talked about how just being outside, even in little ways, can make a big difference for your mood. Taking short walks, sitting by a firepit, or even watching the birds through a window can help you feel more connected to nature. And when it’s just too cold to head out, winter can be the perfect time to slow down. It’s a great season for cozy activities like reading, crafting, playing board games with family, or even making handmade cards. Winter gives us the perfect excuse to stay warm indoors and get creative while sharing a little joy with others. We realized how special those quiet, indoor moments are—they give us time to recharge and appreciate the rhythm of the seasons.
What do the seasons mean to you? If you live somewhere without snow or cold, what do you do to enjoy your seasons? We love hearing how nature inspires your creativity and brings you joy. And speaking of inspiration, we shared a card design that really stood out—simple but powerful, with a calming scene and the word “breathe.” It reminded us all to take a moment to slow down and enjoy what’s around us, whether it’s the snowy outdoors or the cozy warmth inside. Let’s all embrace the season, breathe, and make the most of this winter together!
