It’s Christmas time, and we’re back with another episode full of family stories and traditions!
Today, we’re starting with one of my favorite holiday memories—our handmade advent calendar. I made it when the kids were little, painting and stitching each piece with Velcro for the daily activities. Every morning, the kids would race to the dining room to see what the day’s activity was—anything from getting the Christmas tree to baking cookies or decorating the house. The excitement of discovering what was planned made every day feel special.
Looking at the calendar now, it’s a little worn, but it’s full of memories, like singing around the piano when Grandma Margaret played with such gusto or a day of crafting handmade gifts. It’s not just the activities that made it magical; it’s the stories and moments behind them. Even the “mystery pieces” with spilled coffee stains now have their own charm—they remind us of the imperfections that make traditions so special.
We’d love to hear about your advent calendars or holiday traditions, especially any handmade touches! Whether it’s crafting, storytelling, or creating new memories, these little things bring so much joy. Christmas is about more than the big events; it’s about the small moments that make the season meaningful. So, share your stories and memories with us—let’s celebrate the charm of family traditions together.
