Have you taken a road trip lately? I mean a "real" road trip of several hundred miles. Earlier this month, Tim and I took a road trip with two other couples in a van from Minnesota to Arkansas to visit friends. These were our camping friends and we had taken many road trips earlier in our lives as a caravan of three cars filled with kids and pulling campers. Now it was just the six adults, all of us getting older, and we must have looked pretty funny as we kept crawling in and out of that van, especially from the rear seat!
One of the families we visited had two daughters, ages six and nine, who were learning to knit. We had great conversations with them as they showed us around their land and talked about their animals and the books they were reading and so on. When I was making a thank you card for their parents, I wanted to do something special for the girls, so I decided that, for each of them, I would create a special hand made card for a knitter. I used the Hand Knit stamp set and 3 x 3 cards with envelopes and tucked them both inside of the card for their parents. It was an opportunity for me to say something special to each of them too.
Hand Knit p.55 #117012w $17.95 #120507c $13.95
Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine (Occasions Mini), Stampin' Write Marker and card stock
White gel pen p.p. 203 #105021 $3.95 (used to highlight the coat of wool on the lamb, which was then cut out and layered)
What I was thinking about as I was making these cards is how personal we can make our cards with Stampin' Up! stamps and supplies.
I shared this story to show how I could create a special hand made card for a knitter. Who in your life would you like to send a special card to? What are their interests? Making a personal card for them is a special gift for them as well as a special gift for yourself. As you create that hand stamped card, you will be enjoying fond memories of that person.
Please comment below and share which stamp set you would choose for the person you are thinking of and why!
