Double flap cards are always fun to make because they give your card an unexpected interactive element. This version adds a little twist by incorporating a large die to create one of the flaps, making it even more eye-catching. It’s a simple way to turn an ordinary card into something extra special without adding a lot of complicated steps.
I also love that this idea works with so many different large dies. Balloons, flowers, arches, banners, ornaments, tags, hearts—you can use almost any large shape to create a unique flap. Just switch the die and Designer Series Paper, and you’ll have a completely different card for birthdays, holidays, baby cards, or just because!

How to Make a Double Flap Card with a Large Die:
- Score a regular 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card base in half and fold. Turn the card base so that the fold is on the right side.
- Score around quarter of an inch from the left side of the die cut piece and fold. Put adhesive on the back of the side flap, align the score line of the die cut piece to the left edge of the card base and adhere.
- Adhere three 4″ x 5-1/4″ DSP/coordinating cardstock pieces on the card base (one on the card front, and the remaining two on the inside panels of the card).
- Add your accent/sentiment pieces.
