Fractured cards—sometimes also called faux shutter cards —are such a fun way to create something that looks intricate but is actually surprisingly simple to put together. I love how this technique breaks up your Designer Series Paper into sections, creating lots of visual interest while still keeping a clean, structured design.
This style is perfect for showcasing a beautiful piece of patterned paper or scene, since the “fractured” panels naturally draw your eye across the card. Add a focal image over the top, and it really pulls everything together while giving the illusion of depth and dimension.
These cards feature the 2026-2028 In Colors!
- Adhere a 2″ square (die cut or regular cut) diagonally on the center of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ DSP piece.
- Put adhesive at the back of four 3/8″ x 5-1/2″ strips. Adhere around the edges of the 2” square piece as shown. Trim off the excess.
- Adhere this on the card base.
- Add your accent and sentiment pieces.
