Today as we look at handmade cards: Monday's For The Birds! Actually, I love Mondays! I love waking up and knowing the week is just beginning and I get to choose how to spend those days. What and advantage to having a home based business! (You know that you too can join me for only $99!!! Just email me!)
If you are one of those people who study every page of the catalog, you might recognize this card layout from p. 53 of the 2012 – 2013 Stampin' Up Catalog. Look closely and we will see that I just changed the stamp set from Little Friends (p. 52 #122665w $24.95, #122667c $17.95) to For The Birds (p. 34 #126405w $32.95, #126407c $24.95).
This video will walk through all of the steps including how to water color the image:
The base of this card is Crumb Cake and the banners are Pacific Point, Real Red and Lucky Limeade. Each banner is 3/4" wide and the lengths vary. The bottoms of the banners are cut with the 1" Square Punch. Mark the top point where the banner to be cut out, and lime up the punch so you can see that mark at one corner. Then line up the punch so it will hit the middle point of the banner.
The Labels Collection Framelits 9p. 101 #125598 $26.95) includes six layers so its easy to choose the size to fit your image.
For water coloring I used a drop of each color ink refill on the stamp set cover and then used a blender pen. (p. 178 #102845 $9.95 for set of 3) I like to use the blender pen when the stamp image is detailed like on this card. You get a lot of control on how dark or light you want the color to be and its easy to do small spaces.
For The Birds is a delightful set of eight stamps that feature these fun little birds. They cover many occasions include birthday, thanks, miss you….even Christmas! If you like "cute" stamps, this sets for you!
