Coloring is one of my favorite ways to bring a handmade card to life. A little bit of color can add depth, personality, and so much interest to even the simplest design. The fun part is that there isn’t just one way to do it—there are so many techniques that can create completely different looks.
We are taking these beautiful trees from the Aspen Grove and we’re going to add color to this three different ways. These are the kinds of techniques that make you look at your supplies in a whole new way.
First Technique: Layering on Another Color
Stamp your whole image on a colored paper first, then stamp it again on a different color paper. Die cut or fussy cut then layer it on the whole stamped image.
Second Technique: Masking & Sponging
Stamp your whole image on a piece of card stock. Stamp on a masking paper and cut out the pieces. Mask some parts of the whole image and use sponges to color the background. Remove the masking paper.
Third Technique: Using Water Painter
Stamp your image then use water painter or paint brush to spread or bring out some of colors.
