Paper piecing is one of those techniques that looks detailed and impressive, but once you try it you’ll see how simple it really is. Instead of coloring your stamped image, you stamp it onto patterned paper and cut or punch out the pieces you want to highlight. Then you layer them back onto your base image. It’s a relaxed way to craft and a great excuse to use up those favorite paper scraps.
What I love most is how the same stamp can take on a completely different personality just by changing the paper. A floral image can feel soft and elegant, while something cute—like a sheep—can become playful and whimsical. Try combining stamps with punches or dies to make the process even easier and cleaner.
This card features the Simply Beautiful stamp set and Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper.
Here’s another card featuring the Woolly Friends stamp set with Woolly Friends builder punch and the Beach Boardwalk Designer Series Paper.
Give it a try with whatever scraps you have nearby. You don’t need special supplies or perfect cutting—just experiment and see what happens. You might be surprised how quickly your stamped images come to life!
