The Delicate Wings Paper Pumpkin has classy gold embossed butterflies and more. Of course you can make the kit exactly as is with all of the instructions provided … or you can have a little fun and see what you come up with! Here are some ideas to get you started.
I like to spread out the contents of the kit on the table. (Of course, I always have to clear the table first – lol!) Then I can see what inspires me.
My first thought was to make this simple easel card to highlight the gorgeous partially cut out butterfly. (You get three of these in the kit.)
Easy Easel Card
- Score an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ of Basic Beige cardstock @ 2-1/8″ and 4-1/4″. Fold to make an easel shape.
- Cut one of the envelope flaps with the embossed butterflies into a 5-1/4″ x 1-3/4″ and attach to the easel front.
- Layer the partially embossed butterfly piece on the gold piece and attach to the card front.
- Stamp your sentiment on an arrow shape and use dimensionals to pop up on the card base. This will keep your card standing up.
- Watch the video below for lots of tips and tricks on using this Paper Pumpkin to make these cards.
Easy Pocket Card
The angled piece of cardstock is already precut for one of the card designs but I immediately saw a pocket card. Pocket cards are a fun way of giving a little card that tucks into a larger piece of cardstock.
- Cut one of the white with gold dots card bases in half to make two card fronts.
- Attach the shaped beige piece using adhesive just along the outside edges to form a pocket.
- Cut this piece down to 4″ x 5-1/4″ if you want to add another layer behind it.
- Layer onto a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock.
- For the pocket, cut a 3″ x 8″ piece of Basic Beige cardstock, scored @ 4″ and folded.
- Stamp your image and sentiment on a 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Basic White and layer this on a 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock before adding it to the mini card. Tuck this in to the pocket.
- Notice how the butterfly looks watercolored? Watch the video below to see this quick technique!
Accent the Patterned Paper
Use any layered dies to create this lovely look!
- Cut one of the embossed butterfly card bases into two 5-1/4″ x 4″ pieces. (Use just one piece for this card.)
- Lay the smaller Nested Essential Dies right in the center of this piece and die cut.
- Use the larger Nested Essential Die to cut out a piece of gold cardstock.
- Layer the embossed card front on the base card. Use dimensionals to pop up the gold die cut piece right over the open part.
- Add the smaller die cut piece. Stamp your sentiment on the tag and pop that up on the card front.
Designing with Three Elements
The popped up sentiment makes the third element along with the butterflies.
This card design uses a 2-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of the white with gold dots layered on a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic Gray cardstock and then layered on the Basic Beige card front.
Easy Card Layout with Fussy Cutting
Cut one of the embossed butterfly card bases in half to make two cards like this.
Cut that into a 3″ x 4″ piece to add to the card front and use the leftover piece to fussy cutting some butterflies to add!
Just Add Details
Use the piece already in the kit to layer onto a card front.
Add your sentiment and pop up a few of the butterflies and you are finished.
Tiny Details Make the Difference
Stamp just the word love from the end of one of the sentiment stamps and pop up three of the little butterflies to create the focal point for this card.
