This card brings back memories for me. Its a Perfectly Preserved jar of buttons! Did you ever play with old buttons as a child? If your mother or grandmother was a sewer, you probably did. Of course, most women used to sew out of necessity in the 50's so if you are as old as I am……
The jar on this card, from the Perfectly Preserved stamp set, is made with a window sheet so it actually looks like a glass jar.
Speaking of jars with buttons, here is a jar of buttons I have saved over the years:
When my grand kids are older, we will play "Button, Button, Who's Got the Button" , and we will string the buttons to make all kinds of things. I will share my love of creativity with creating games and crafts with real objects like these. I think kids today play with too many bright plastic manufactured toys and not enough "real" things, but enough of my soap box about that!
Back to the card…….The jar on this card is actually two pieces. There is a Whisper White layer on the bottom and a window sheet layer on the top. It actually looks like a glass jar. I stamped on the window sheet with Stazon Ink. The stamp itself has an extra line across the bottom which I didn't want on this card, so I put a tiny piece of a Post-It Note over that line, inked the stamp, and removed the Post-It Note before stamping on the window sheet. If that doesn't make sense, just watch the stamping video tutorial below.
Both of the stamped jars were put through the Big Shot with the Cannery Set Framelits Die. You will want to have those Framelits if you have the Perfectly Preserved stamp set, so order them together in the Perfectly Preserved Bundle and save 15%.
This jar was filled with buttons from the Sweet Buttons Embosslits. To attach the window sheet layer, I used a small piece of Sticky Strip cut in half across the lip of the jar and then wrapped Baker's Twine around that. That is the only place where it is attached and it is all that is needed.
The plaid tablecloth is a piece of Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper trimmed with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.
What memories would you like to preserve today? You can order anything you need here. You might fill your jars with jellies, fruits, candies, wishes, or perhaps, like me, you will have a Perfectly Preserved jar of buttons!
