A tisket, a tasket, a green and yellow basket…..We are ready for spring craft ideas: Easter Basket or May Basket! These are so easy to make, you can still get them done for this Easter Sunday! Since they are only 2 1/2" square, they are perfect for table favors! They are also perfect for May Day, a holiday thats almost disappeared, but one that we loved to do with our kids! We gave May Baskets to the neighbors and to some elderly friends. It was such a fun reason to stop for a quick visit with our kids!
Here is a video tutorial on how to make the basket:
I hope you can tell what I am doing in the video. Its actually basic weaving that most of us learned in first grade! Who knew we would be re-visiting those skills in our adult lives? All those paper pieces get in the way of seeing what my hands are doing, but if you go ahead and try it, it will make sense.
All you need to make this basket is six 3/4" by 12" strips of one design of designer series paper and two strips of the same size from another pattern in the pack of designer series paper. I used the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper for this basket. You can see in the video how helpful the Simply Scored is!
It will hold just a bit of candy or another little gift. I think it would be perfect for a little girl's birthday party too.
I think all of us paper crafters love unusual packaging. Its all about the wrap! A little basket like this is a great twist on traditional gift wrapping. Lets welcome spring with these spring craft ideas: Easter Basket or May Basket. Which would you prefer?
