At last evening's Fine Line monthly get-together in Minnesota, Pleasant Poppies made the winning hand made card! This beautiful card was created by Lori Kusant. (I have a blog for Fine Line members where videos and pictures from the meeting are posted so all can see the wonderful ideas shared.)
Lori explained how she came with this idea. You might have seen this similar card, without really paying attention to it. That was certainly true for me. If you look on page 14 of the 2012 – 2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog, you will see a card using this layout on the top right corner of the page. These were the changes Lori made to make this card her own:
3. She changed the colors from Really Red, Lucky Limeade and Baja Breeze to Primrose Petals, Lucky Limeade, and Bashful Blue.
These four steps totally transformed a sweet Christmas card into a classy all-occasion card.
The rest of the basics have remained the same on both cards. The layout with the Whisper White card stock bordered with a strip of Lucky Limeade card stock trimmed with the Scallop Border Punch have stayed the same as well as the banner with the words accented by punched out flowers. The Greeting Card Kids card used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a Vintage Faceted Designer Button and the Pleasant Poppies card used the same punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack along with the Boho Blossoms punch. Notice the light blue water coloring around the poppies and the bits of glitter on them too.
Thank you Lori Kusant for showing all of us how to change a card and make it your own original. I'm sure this has given you some ideas to try out. I want to challenge you to pick a card from the Stampin' Up! catalog or from my blog and make three changes to it. I think you will like what you end up! Please share this post if you plan to give it a try! And now you know how Pleasant Poppies made the winning hand made card!
