How did World Card Making Day get started? In 2006 Paper Craft magazine names the first Saturday in October as World Card Making Day – a day to celebrate cardmakers!
It has “world” in it so that no matter where we live we call make a handmade card and be thinking of all of the people around the world doing this on the same day – what a way to be “together”
**** Its a perfect way to kick off the fall season of card making and crafting —— time to start thinking about cards & gifts for Christmas!
I always host a party for World Card Making Day – and this year, we will go virtual of course – and you are invited!!!!
I will be doing a free class on YouTube with a new One Sheet Double Wonder Class —— you just show up with two sheets of 6” x 12” Designer Series Paper of your choice and some cardstock and we will create beautiful cards together! Of course, you can always catch the replay.
But… beyond that, I am excited to try something new.
I have a fabulous team of demonstrators (we are called the Fine Line) – and most of the members have had only in person classes up until this pandemic. A few of them are already online but more of them are starting to go online now – and I wanted an opportunity for all of us to work together to create a fun weekend! (tell stories about going online sideways — tech not working, etc —- all part of the process so …..
So —— on my blog at karentitus.com I will be posting a schedule of live events hosted by team members – topics ranging from fun fold cards to quilt cards and much much more. I would love to have you stop by and check it out. (This will be posted on Wednesday)
Of course – every good party needs gifts and we have plenty!!!! Each live will have a drawing and to enter you just need to watch and comment on the lives by Monday evening at 9 pm! (So it doesn’t even matter if you have other obligations over the weekend – but of course if you are free, there is nothing for us creators like having people on live commenting and asking questions as we are working!)
You will feel both inspired to create many new things yourself and you will feel connected to all of the wonderful crafters who are commenting about what they are learning.
This is an opportunity to encourage some women who are stepping out of their comfort zones to try something new – and to share a bit of their creativity with us!!!
How are you going to celebrate World Card Day?
Make a few cards of course.
Get your kids involved too – celebrate being creative together!
And …. We hope you will spend some of it with us!
