Christmas is such an exciting time for kids. How about getting them involved in gift making with you? Shared experiences with the adults in their lives lead to lasting memories and are also a perfect opportunity to share your values with them! If you have kids, grand kids, nieces or nephews, or any other special children in your life, this is a great project to share with them!
Yes, I'm referring to my Christmas Gift Making Kit! Here again is a picture of one of the four gift projects in this kit:
You open the package to find a package of cocoa, cider, coffee, candy…… You will notice its a bit different from the same project I posted on Friday which you can see here. That one had mittens hanging from it and used matching designer series paper for that. This time I've used the owl from Owl Occasions and coordinating paper. Both of these papers are from the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper Pack!
The cost of this Christmas Gift Making Kit?
Only $12 for all the prepared paper and accessories for four totally different gifts (everything but the stamps and the cocoa, etc. to go inside)……or, better yet, FREE with a $50 order! Order $100 and get 2 Free Kits and so on……
* Written step by step guides with pictures will be emailed to you.
Of course, this is perfect for you, as an adult, to make for friends. Today, I just wanted to challenge people to think about Christmas and kids.
One of our favorite family Christmas Traditions:
On December 6, we celebrated St Nick's Day. The evening before, our kids would put their shoes by the door so St Nick could deliver a package to them. The package was always something to do to prepare for the Christmas season – a craft book, decorations to make, etc.
Why did we do this?
1. To celebrate with others around the world. Much of the world celebrates St Nicks instead of Santa. We incorporated traditions from many other countries to build awareness of other countries, to bring alive stories and books we would read of other countries, and to spark creativity!
2. We focused on lots of "gift" occasions during the Christmas season to make "gifts and gifting" special and thoughtful and to help minimize the emphasis on receiving those bigger gifts on Christmas eve. (Often, these small gift occasions create the bigger memories!)
The kids and I always made gifts together for them to give. On Christmas Eve, they passed out their gifts first and watched everyone open them. The best part was watching their faces as they received thanks!
My Christmas Gift Making Kit would be an easy way to do this! Get one for yourself too and create side-by-side. Build a special memory together. ** Take a picture of the projects and the kid or kids holding them. You will cherish that forever – that is one thing I forgot to do! (I will send you the kit or kits right away so you will have plenty of time to create!)
I hope I have encouraged you to take some time to create with a special child or children in your life. I would also love to hear your comments and your traditions of creating with children! Please share below! (and, as always, email me if you have questions)
